Piano man? If I have anything to do with it...

Dean was fever free most of today and had an hour or so of happy time. This was part of that time. (He actually broke out into a rash all over his face and bum shortly after this.) We're starting lessons young. Hehe.

His only piano rule right now is "no eating the piano" (he is only 9 months!), but he often tries to push that one to the limit. We'll work on technique later (though his hand position is already better than some of my students. I mean, look at that first picture!). I especially loved his use of the fermata (I think he was watching the strings and hammers through the crack).

Such talent! I love how happy he is sitting there. And I'm way impressed that he doesn't fall face-forward onto the keys (or off the bench, for that matter). :) Glad he's feeling better!

Yeah, he kept inching forward on the bench when he'd get excited. I'm actually saying, "you be careful" at the end of the first video and I slid him back a little on the bench. I'm hoping tomorrow will produce an even happier and healthier boy because I sure was tired of hearing his sick whine by the end of the day. One hour of happiness is not enough (but it sure is better than none!).

On Sunday Ben P. played a piano solo in church--a very hard arrangement of I Believe in Christ.

Then Jason L. got up to speak and said, now THAT'S why we have Jakey and Chloe taking piano lessons.

Ben wants to have a doctorate in music. He has a BA and is teaching at a private high school in UT. He wants to teach college.

When Ben was through playing he looked over at me and gave me a big smile as if to say, "see, I was paying attention to all of your lessons, even if I made up the left hand sometimes!"

So to all of my daughters who taught Ben, you have been a great influence for good in the world!

And I'm sure Dean will follow in his footsteps.

Hmmm...sounds like Dean had Roseola. In any case, I'm glad his fever is gone.

Those piano shots are too adorable! A piano is one of the things on my life-time wish list. Hopefully when we get a house it will come true. So glad you are starting him young!

Yeah, that's what I concluded yesterday Erin. It's worse today on his face and tummy and he keeps scratching it. I feel so sad for him.

Katelyn loves to play, too. We also have instituted the "no eating or slobbering on the piano" rule . . . but she doesn't quite get it yet. She's pretty excited about playing, though, and will put her hands on mine to play (while adding a few flourishes of her own!).
