Here are a few things I learned:
- Our stake is HUGE. Not just huge. Massive. We have 16 wards and 1 branch. It is so large, in fact, we had to have two sessions of conference. Half of the Stake went in the morning and half went in the afternoon. We completely filled the chapel (choir seats and all) clear back through the cultural hall and onto the stage. We also had overflow rooms for people to watch on the TV. Parking was a out of control to say the least.
- Having said that, I thought we were going to have some boundary rearranging since we have the largest ward of the 16. That was a no-go. I guess we're not going to split wards or stakes until we have at least one more church house which could take up to two years.
- Husbands really need to listen to their wives.
- Wives need to give their husbands information in smaller chunks if possible. (This will help the husbands to listen better...)
- There is a time for talking and a time for sleeping. Don't confuse the two. (Take that how you will...)
- Our battle is not one of time, it's one of priorities.
- Once we start really living like we should (paying our tithing, honoring the Sabbath day, obeying commandments, praying specifically for rain, etc.) the drought will abate and we will receive rain.
- Mormon.org is a good site to give people who are interested in learning about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and what we believe.

Hey Cel, nice picture. Don't give up too soon on the ward split. Do all the buildings in your stake have 4 wards? If not you have some possibilities.
And when they do get around to doing a split they will have just those of you who are affected come to the meeting. I've never seen it done at a stake conference. Although a stake split would have been a good possibility. Poor stake president! That's way too many wards to be responsible for.
Any thing good at the Saturday night meeting? I think that is the best meeting in the church because the kids aren't there and more real doctrine is usually addressed.
So enjoy sleeping in on Sunday mornings. Before you know it you'll get a new ward with a new time.
Someday I'll learn what "svithe" means. Until then I'll just comment as usual.
I like the chunks advice. Are we talking pineapple sized chunks or chunks of hard french bread thrown to the back of the head? Poor Adam had been getting a lot of chunk lately...
I was curious also, now that you mention it. So I did a search, and found it!
It's a portmanteau word! It's a fusion of two words, seven and tithe.
(quote) The word svithe: a blending of seven and tithe. And if a tithe is the tenth given to God, then a svithe is the seventh given to God
Interesting, eh?
Good job guys. Way to research Mizike! Yes. Th. was the one who came up with the svithe. He figured that if at all possible he'd take one day a week (generally Sunday) and dedicate it to a post about religion/ the Lord. Since then about 12 of us have embraced the svithe and have tried to incorporate religion into our blogsphere in some form or another.
