Ode to Anne (with an "e")

Well, I've never read the whole Anne of Green Gables series, so I thought it was about time. I read the first two books and went back to the library to check out the third. To my dismay that they do not have the third book!!! Ack! So, if anyone in my area has the series and would let me borrow them, I'd appreciate it.

I also wanted to say that I now think of "kindred spirits" all the time and how grateful I am for them. It's always fun to find an unexpected kindred spirit. I love being able to attend Relief Society and enrichment activities because it offers the opportunity to find friends you'd never have come in contact with otherwise. (We had a really fun enrichment and I got to know some sisters I didn't really know.)

So, thank you Anne for reminding me how great people are.

I feel the same way every time I read through the Anne series. It's fascinating to be charmed by fictional characters.

Hooray for Anne! And I hope you can get your hands on copies of the rest of the books in the series, because, seriously. They're fantastic. Does you library offer inter-library loan?

I love those books. I haven't read them for several years, but I have read them a couple of times at least, I have all 8 books of the whole series, sorry, not much help to you in Texas, though. :)

I know I've read the first (and maybe part of the second) before, but I just kind of got bored with it the first time I tried when I was a kid. I think I also got a little exasperated with Anne's personality. I appreciate her much more this time around.

I was reluctant to watch the movies when I was in college, but once I started, I couldn't stop watching!

I don't know if they do inter-library loan, but I should check.

I have the whole set of the first 7 that we read growing up. Let me know if you can find copies of them. If you can't I will send the series to you, since it is the set mom gave to us when we were growing up.

I remember reading the Anne books as a young teenager and losing interest after about book 2 or 3. A few years ago I read the whole series, right after I had had a baby, and I LOVED them so much. I think that the books about courtship, marriage, and having kids are a lot more meaningful after you've been in that stage of life. They are definitely some of my favorite books ever written.

Thanks amanda. One of my friends found her copy this weekend while cleaning, so I have the third book now. The library should have the rest.
