Please shut the beep up.

This morning I was awakened at 5 by my phone ringing. In my delirious sleep ridden state I jumped up and made a B-line for the phone thinking, "I hope my Grandpa didn't die." You see, he had heart surgery yesterday.

Luckily it wasn't that.

I picked up to hear that horrible beeping and shrieking signifying a fax. 5 AM!! I don't know who these people think they're faxing, but I need it to stop. I laid in bed drifting in and out of a restless sleep until my alarm went off at 7. What a horrible way to start the morning. I looked into getting call waiting after my last round of incessant fax calls, but it would raise my bill half again. No thanks.

But please someone, shut the beep up for me! I can't handle it anymore!

I can only think of one worse way to wake up -

My parents used to march into our rooms on Saturday and Sunday mornings singing the BYU Cougar fight song at the top of their lungs and clapping.

"Rise and shout, the Cougars are out...blah blah blah."

It was the sole and very important reason why I never ever EVER wanted to go to BYU.

But a fax, that's pretty gosh didilly dum awful too! I have heard about this phone service where they will automatically turn your phone to an answering machine between the hours of your choice and tell the callers that if it is really an emergency to press a button to ring through. Otherwise, everything is filtered. I TOTALLY need one of those.

HAHAHAHA. And to think you still went. And you probably even sang the song a time or two hundred at the football games.

What kind of phone service do you have? You should be able to get a package with caller ID, call waiting, 3-way calling, call forwarding for about $3 or $4 a month. With caller ID you could at least see who is calling you and then call them back and tell them they have the wrong number.

The problem is that they think your phone is a fax so somehow you have to let them know that it is not. Unless it was just a one time accidental wrong number you will probably continue to get those calls.

Lots of businesses send faxes to other businesses in the middle of the night. That's the main reason we keep our fax machine unplugged unless we are sending or expecting a fax.

PS thank heavens the grandpa is recovering well!

We have AT&T. I remember you telling me that it should only be a couple bucks so I called to sign up. When I asked them how much it was just for caller ID they said it was $10 just for that. No call waiting; nothing but caller ID for an extra $10. We pay $20 right now for our phone service so to have that one service cost half as much as our regular service it seems like such a rip off. I know, I know. Most people pay two or three times that much for their cell phones alone.

But when you want to save, you cut unecessary spending first, and it just doesn't seem necessary.

I know that most phone companies don't charge if you change your phone number once...I know it is a pain, but I think at this point it would be worth it!

This happens ALL THE TIME in our office. So annoying. They'll call one of our phones trying to fax something. We get the annoying beeps. They try again. And again. And again. It's awful because they don't ever stop! Anyway, I hear you...annoying.
