Look ma! No hands!

Well, yesterday and today Dean has been standing hands-free. He's tried twice to take one step, but he generally just does a front trust-fall knowing I'll catch him. He is very aware that he is standing on his own, and he gets excited and starts flapping his arms and hyperventilating. It's very fun. (As you can see, he's still a MAJOR drooler. I can't wait for that phase to pass!)

This is just another example of the funny faces he pulls. What a crack up.

It's super fun when they start start standing on their own, and even more fun when they get brave enough to take a couple steps. What's not so much fun is when, after they take those couple of steps, they remember that it's a little scary to be doing something as crazy as walking by yourself, at which point they let themselves back down on all fours so they can crawl to their destination. That's where we're at with Garrett. I was really hoping that by the end of the month he'd be a walking boy (after all, by the end of the month he'll be 15 months...definitely old enough to be walking), and maybe he still will be, but lately he seems to have taken on the mantra: Why walk slowly when you can crawl faster?

Thanks Kristeee

Cass, I am so over the drool soaked shirts. I swear he goes through 2-3 outfits every day because of drool. I used to keep bibs on him, but they just weren't sufficient to keep up with his drool.

Holly, I too loved how proud he was of himself. SO cute.

Lindsay, I have a sister who didn't walk on her own until 16 months. She's perfectly good at walking now...And yes, why walk when you can crawl faster? Very good question indeed...
