Up to my eyeballs

I just can't get it together! I seem to be currently buried under crafts. I usually don't craft during the day, but I've put off most cleaning and clutter control until I get some of my projects done! It is the first night I am going to bed with a messy kitchen in months.

That tree skirt I started? Yeah, I decided to HAND QUILT it! For 1, I don't have a darning foot yet. For 2, I have never actually machine quilted anything and I didn't want to screw it up. I have been stitching during nearly every nap and every evening this past week. I just have the boarders of 3 sides left. The worst is over, so hopefully I'll finish it this weekend and move on!!

Those cloth ornaments I wanted to make? I think they'll have to wait a year.

But the lights are up. It's our first year to have lights on our house. I love them. They're the multi-colored icicle lights. And our tree is up, it's just sparsely decorated. Our stockings are hung by the chimney with care. And it's only 21 days until Saint Nick is here...

Dean is in one of my favorite stages yet (though he has had a cold this past week). My new favorite word: Uh oh. Throws the noodles on the floor? "Uh oh." Can't find his favorite blanket that he now carries around the house? "Uh oh." It's often enunciated so well with his little mouth shaping the "o". I love it. The video doesn't do it justice, but it's been awhile since I updated on the little guy.

One thing I haven't yet gotten used to? His running away from me in stores! He is now comfortable to move amongst many people outside of my visual range. ACK! I am seriously considering getting him a little harness for busy places. Oh, and he likes to cross our street. I keep trying to hit home that he can't go in the street without holding my hand, but he fights me on that one! He's an independent little man sometimes.

The little "uh oh" is so cute!

Good luck getting everything done. You're an ambitious woman!

The harness is an awesome idea I have one and I love it.

I hear ya. Why is it that the busiest time of year is also my most creative time of year?

Hey, go for the harness...we have one and I think it's one of the best inventions ever. Not once have I gotten a weird look for using it. And a child attached to you is WAY better than the alternative. I even saw a lady at the library with one on her toddler. Spencer loves it, he calls it his "monkey."

Anna is a runner too. I never go anywhere without her in a cart or stroller.

I hear you on the crafts! I have about 10 pages of holiday crafts I sketched up and just don't seem to have the time to do them! Hopefully a few will get done!

HAHAHA! One of my favorite Simpson's lines is when someone invents a baby talk interpreter, and the baby in the child harness says, "This thing is degrading to both of us." or something like that. I am much more of a stroller person, mostly because I am the one giving strange looks to people with harnesses, especially when the child runs to the end of the line and then is pulled into the air and onto the ground with a snap. But whatever, to each her own.

By the way, even with my wildest boys, I made a rule that if we are in public, they are locked in the stroller, period. If they cry, we go back to the car and go home. They caught on quick that they had better be good in it if they want to go anywhere. Plus, a few good snacks in the stroller work wonders for distraction.

1. I hate taking strollers places I have to push something else around (like a grocery store).
2. Strollers just seem like a hassle when you're going some "quick" place like the post office.
3. I try and keep him in the cart as long as possible with treats and snacks, but sometimes he just passes his point of tolerance for sitting. He then starts wiggling out of seatbelts and tries to climb out of the cart.
4. I CAN'T STAND when kids cry at the store. I know parents can't always help it, but I'd rather let him down and walk than endure an annoying wailing kid.
5. If he was at a reasoning stage like, "If you're not good we're going home." I would probably not use a harness.

I mainly think harnesses are best for very little kids who can't stand being strapped down in a cart or stroller but can't understand reason or the need to stay right by mommy.

I too used to think like Amanda, but they make such cute ones these days (like the monkey one.) Good luck! today was the first time David ran out in the street and I was mortified! Usually he stays right with me. AAAHHHH. 3 year olds!
