Down East Basics Modeled @ 22 1/2 wks pregnant

Ok. My sister J. lives close to both a Shade and Down East Basic (outlet) store and offered to go and buy shirts for me and ship them. Shade was having a sale on their undershirts for $10/shirt (or so it seemed), so I took her up on it. When she got there, there were certain stipulations in order to get the $10 price, so I passed on it. She then went to Down East Basics and bought shirts for me there. They didn't carry any maternity at that store (except tanks), so she got me regular mediums. Thanks J.! I appreciate it.

All were size regular medium. Three were the crew neck and two were the undershirts. I decided that they're not real careful on their product control (is that what it's even called?) because they all fit me a little differently. The brown shirt fit the best, and the green shirt was the tightest resulting in some minor love handles...Notice the necks of the 3 crews were all a little different. One sleeve on the black is slightly sticky-outy.

Overall, not a bad shirt for the price (especially since some were on sale), but don't expect every shirt to be exactly the same. Also, if I had to do it over, I'd probably get the regular large from them as opposed to the pictured mediums. I also have to say that I actually prefer the feel and fit of the Shade medium maternity to the Down East regular medium, but my camera battery died so I couldn't get you a picture of the Shade. Unfortunately the Shade shirts were nearly twice the price. The material and quality is better, imo, so I can see them being more expensive. Twice the quality to justify twice the price? Not really, but I'm still glad I have a few Shade.

yep. i love the downeast undershirt (the "wonder tee"), but i totally don't wear them for anything but a true under shirt. all of their other stuff is really cheaply made and kind of cheap material, so i shy away from all but the beloved "wonder tee." and since i have one in several different colors, i don't feel like i can justify spending twice as much for a "shade." hope you love them too!

I just bought a few of their (DE)maternity shirts in the clearance section online along with the reg med's for pregnancy...I am also lucky to have two Shade med's that I have NEVER wore b/c they were too big-- they'll be perfect for pregnancy!

The fact that it was an outlet store might explain why the same shirts fit differently. Many outlet stores will sell items that are still wearable, but don't quite match up to the regular stores' standards.

I found your blog and got excited and commented on your cloth diaper post but figured I'd better comment here too in case you don't look down there anymore;)

Looking good! I love Shade, Down East, Modbe, Layers ect ect. My closet is completely full of them--got to have every style and color right?? I've never noticed mine fitting differently though? But, I've also never done a side by side comparison. They are great for pregnancy! I'm still wearing my regular shirts from those places at 39 weeks pregnant(although probably stretching them out;)) because they are so long. It has been SO nice not to have to buy or wear one maternity top! (or pants--thanks to the low rise style:))

Melinda, thanks so much for your comments! Did you stick with the fuzzi bunz or have you found something else that you like more? Or do you just like having a variety? Good for you on everything and congrats with your very close delivery!!

I LOVE Downeast camis and wear one under almost everything. I wore my regular ones throughout my entire pregnancy. Just so you know, they will change as you wear and wash them. Even though they do spring back to their shape after washing (obviously, since I still wear them not pregnant), they won't be as tight after awhile and you won't have to worry about the "love handles".
